Some helpful tips I've discovered when talking to Copilot (or other AI models)
Use simple & straightforward language
No need to use overly complicaated language with AI. Being precise and direct is the best way to go for it to understand you best.
Specify what you will be using it’s response for!
If you are asking for code for a WordPress post specifically, tell it that! It can respond in different formats, so providing context can be extremely effective. It many initially provide code as separate files for HTML, CSS, etc. This could be difficult to reformat for WordPress, so let it know how you will be utilizing its answer and it can help!
Start small… then go big!
Start by asking AI for something simple and see what it comes up with. Then go from there! In the example of my Color Palette Generator, I started by simply asking Copilot to generate code for a color palette generator. From there, I asked it adjust the number of boxes, display the hex code of the color, and change the font of the hex code displayed. This works best when you only make one or two adjustments at a time. By doing this, you can start with a solid first response that you’re happy with and add more complicated and specific details from there.
“Take a deep breath and go step by step”
If you aren’t getting the response you want, try telling AI to “take a deep breath and go step by step”. This will often make AI slow down, and provide a more thourough and detialed answer.
Example - Generating a Nature Scene
First Prompt: Hi! Can you generate me an image of a landscape?
This first prompt was purposefully very simple and open-ended. I asked this first just to see what it would come up with initially.
Second Prompt: Make this more photorealistic
This prompt was clearly very direct, and the desired outcome was very clear and eay to understand. The results do seem to reflect this request.
Third Prompt: Add snow, make these same scenes set during wintertime.
Another direct prompt with a clear outcome. Just a simple adjustment is requested. However, the images generated were not exactly the same as the previous ones. But you can see that the elements of mountains, trees, and the river remained.
